Application of RFID radio Technologies for freight Tracking
At PEITFM of the Ministry of Public Works, within the strategic line II: Quality of Service and Efficiency, several measures are proposed for the automatization of the management and the operations of the logistic terminals and the real-time freight tracking, through the establishment of identification technologies and automatic tracking of the rolling stock.
Nowadays, full-checked technologies exist, which in some cases, have already been applied to the railway world. It consists of via radio systems which communicate data from the loads or the freight wagon to the control centre. The are commonly known as RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) and, if applied in an efficient way in the railport transport sphere, they allow the loads and rolling stock tracking along the complete logistic chain. This technology is already been used within other logistic sectors, such as parcels services, perishable goods or automotive ones.
It is a must for the transport of heavy loads to find a solution to meet the needs of the heavy loads transport done with containers or wagons.
